African champions Nigeria were handed a tough assignment in the draw for this year's Women's World Cup on Sunday.

The Super Falcons will face two-time champions United States in Group B of the tournament to be held in China in September.

Nigeria were also ranked alongside Sweden, runners-up in 2003, and Asia's top team North Korea in the group.

Africa's other team at the tournament, Ghana will play world number three Norway in Group C.

The Black Queens will also face Australia and Canada in the group.

Reigning champions Germany were given a relatively easy ride against Japan, England and Argentina in Group A.

The draw also smiled on hosts China, runners-up in 1999, who will play Denmark, Brazil and New Zealand in Group D.

The top two teams from each group progress to the quarter-finals.

For the first time in the women's World Cup, prize money will go to all teams.

A total of US$6.4m will go to all teams.

The winner will get US$1m with US$800,000 for second, $650,000 for third and US$550,000 for fourth.

Quarter-finalists will earn US$350,000, with US$250,000 for all other teams.

The tournament will be played at five venues.

In addition to Shanghai, matches will be held in Wuhan, Chengdu, Tianjin and Hangzhou.
